Festive Profiterole Christmas Cookie Skewers (Version imprimable)

Cream puffs and cookies dipped in chocolate, skewered and sprinkled for a festive, bite-sized holiday treat.

# Ingrédients:

→ Profiteroles

01 - 1/2 cup water
02 - 1/4 cup unsalted butter
03 - 1/4 teaspoon salt
04 - 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
05 - 2 large eggs

06 - 1 cup whole milk
07 - 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
08 - 2 large egg yolks
09 - 1 tablespoon cornstarch
10 - 1/2 teaspoon pure vanilla extract

11 - 12 small round butter cookies

12 - 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
13 - 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
14 - Red, green, and white sprinkles
15 - 12 wooden skewers

# Étapes:

01 - Preheat oven to 400°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
02 - In a saucepan, combine water, unsalted butter, and salt; bring to a boil. Add flour all at once, stirring vigorously until a smooth ball forms and pulls away from the pan sides. Remove from heat and allow to cool for 5 minutes.
03 - Beat in eggs one at a time until the dough is glossy and smooth.
04 - Transfer dough to a piping bag. Pipe 24 small mounds (1 inch diameter) onto prepared baking sheet. Bake for 18 to 20 minutes until golden brown and puffed. Cool profiteroles completely.
05 - Heat milk in a saucepan until steaming. In a bowl, whisk together granulated sugar, egg yolks, and cornstarch. Gradually whisk in hot milk, then return mixture to saucepan. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until thickened. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract. Allow pastry cream to cool completely.
06 - Poke a small hole into each cooled profiterole. Using a piping bag, fill centers with pastry cream.
07 - Thread 2 filled profiteroles and 2 butter cookies alternately onto each skewer.
08 - Melt semisweet chocolate chips and unsalted butter together until smooth. Drizzle chocolate over skewers or dip ends; garnish generously with festive sprinkles.
09 - Allow chocolate to set before serving.
